Im Back in Manila!!

Just finished my real business why I came back to Manila. I'm now relaxing and taking a break from serious work. Yeah just for the weekend, and again starting next week, i'll be going back to getting most of my job done here.

I just want to write something here because I almost forgot the URL of this blog. Will be posting some stuff soon.

Overdue post

I already wrote something and posted a picture with it but I realized that the picture was picture of me and my roommates and they don't know i embrace the rainbow flag, so I deleted it. Here's a picture of my bestfriend and I instead from my recent trip to Seaworld San Antonio. Sorry about that. But yes, long overdue post and that's because Ive been really really busy with schoolwork and ...work in general.

Anyway, my blog is still alive and I'm still keeping it, just envious of Brian Gorel's blog because its almost on its millionth hit but hey, he has a story to tell. I may have a story to tell but not like him, his was a huge timebomb waiting to explode or has it exploded already? I saw in the news last night that he has a story to tell about a death of a socialite. Now that's another story...can't wait.

Filipino Driver Survival Guide

I got this in my inbox earlier and I just wanted to share this with you.

When greeting a Filipino driver, slowly lower your window and be prepared to greet the driver with: "Tang namo, bobo". However, if you have been already addressed by a fellow driver, reply with a joyful "Tang namo rin, gago".

On Turn signals
If a driver in another lane turns on the turn signal, do not let him go into your lane. In fact, press the accelerator and start driving right next to him/her. The fellow driver will probably greet you and you already know what to do.
On Traffic Lights
These amusing artifacts hang from intersections for no apparent reason. Sometimes you will see drivers stop to see the colors change on these lights (a fascinating experience). Government officials (specifically police) believe that each color stands for an instruction for drivers to follow.
From pure observation I have determined the following instructions for each color: Yellow light: accelerate your car as much as possible.

Red light: this light gives permission to the next five to six cars to go through.

Green: reduce speed and wait for the five to six cars passing through their respective red lights. Little-known-fact: Time to start honking your horn, as soon as the light turns green: 1.5 seconds.

On Changing Lanes
Changing lanes has been elevated to an art form in the Philippines. First of all, no matter what you do, never turn on your turn signal or otherwise you'll stimulate the reaction described above. Second, swerve your car uncontrollably to the lane you want to change, preferably if you end up within inches of a car in that lane. At this point a greeting from the other driver may be in order. To perfect your change of lanes, reduce the speed of your car dramatically in a matter of seconds and you will see an action packed reaction from the car behind you.

On Traffic Jams
Traffic Jams are teeming with fun filled activities such as:
Honking your horn rhythmically.
Put on make-up (usually female drivers only)
Nose-pickers sightseeing. (not to be confused with people who scratch their brains through their nose)
Reduce speed to watch whatever is causing the traffic jam. Add excitement by trying to see if you know the parties involved. (note: every Filipino driver is obliged to do this)
Lose weight by sweating like a pig as a result of a lack of air conditioning.
Greet other drivers.
Practice lane changing.
Play the game: Let's see how close I can get to you before rear-ending you.

On Pedestrians
These individuals are an annoyance to the Filipino driver. If you see pedestrians on your way, accelerate your car to let them know who's the boss. If you are at an intersection, let the pedestrians know you want to proceed by accelerating your car and honking at the last possible moment.

On Social Situations
Bumping into a friend while driving (not to be taken literally) is a joyful occasion. Drivers should reduce speed and stop their cars in the middle of the street and chit chat. What about other drivers? Well, they can wait.

On Highway Driving
Bottleneck Formation: To accomplish this type of driving, cars must block all lanes by driving at the same speed and side by side (to avoid other cars to pass). It is important to drive at a speed at least 20 mph below the speed limit.

The Three-Lane-Change : This movement requires a lot of precision and creativity. It should be done around the highest number of cars possible and in a matter of seconds to create what others may refer to as widespread panic.

Now every Filipino or shall we say Manila drivers should know this by heart.

My Hopes and Aspirations for 2008

2007 has only a few hours left before she become a distant memory of the past. I've told you in my previou post some of the significant things that happened to me this year, now let me walk you through my hopes and aspirations for the coming year 2008 and beyond.

First and on top of my list is improving my body and health in general. I have been writing this in my list for sometime now but then, I just couldn't do it. This is because of my work schedule, but I guess i have all the time to do exercise and go to the gym in the coming year. And yes the gym here is free, has no monthly dues and no membership fees, all you need is your NIU One Card and you will have access to all the cardio machines, weights and exercise programs. And of course MOTIVATION! which i definitely dont have in the past.

Americas Most Smartest Model Winner VJ.

Im going to start sleeping early. Yes maybe 10pm? and not 1am. I keep asking my friend, how will I ever gain weight and she told me sleep early and you'll see the difference. So I am taking her advice, starting next year, I will go to bed early. Uh-oh, but next year is already tomorrow, well, i will start next week when I get back to my apartment.

Yes as you can see on top of my list is all about vanity. Because I believe that looking good will make you feel good about yourself and feeling good make you more confident which eventually will reflect on the things you do, be it in the office or with others. (Miss Universe!!!)

Miss Japan, currently the Miss Universe.

2008 for me is building new relationships. This is the time to know more people from work, from school and from parties...oppss, maybe drop the last one. Making old friendships more stronger, getting to know more about my new found friends and hopefully finding someone special. But as my blog URL says "jadedgayguy", I am jaded so I am just going to let the things flow smoothly my way, be spontaneous and see where this current will take me.

I will be contented with whatever I have in now my possession . No extravagant expenses on non sense stuffs. The aim is to save and save so that when I go home sometime in the summer I will have the best treat of my life. I want to travel, but I will have a lot of time for that. Time will come that travel for me would be just a regular day in my life. But in 2008 its all about saving. Feast my eyes with all the gadgets, and electronic stuff but never never give in to the temptation.

Discovery Shores Boracay, Philippines.

Yeah, the reason why I'm here is my academics. This is on top of everything else priority list. If I got A's in my academics last term, I should be able maintain that standing. This should be as easy as 1-2-3 for me since I have fully adjusted to American academic life. I hope I'll be able to stop procastanating especially when I said that I'm going to run some samples in my lab. Yes, it feels really really disappointing when everyone else finished their final exams already and you are still in the lab doing some last minute analyses of your samples. Do I sound geeky? Its because I consider my self a geek, a fashion, party goer geek, but that was before. In 2008 I will just be a plain and simple geek.

My domain, my workplace, my lab.

For the rest of my friends and family, readers (if there is anyone reading this at all), blog hoppers, I hope you all have the best of the coming year, more good tidings, abundant blessings come your way and....

My last hope and perhaps everybody else's hope is WORLD PEACE.

Happy 2008!!!

Happyness, Good Health, and Good Tidings in the coming year!

This is my guardian angel, I'm letting my friends borrow him for a while to guide them thru the New Year...would you also like to borrow my guardian angel?
Since my guardian angel is watching over my friends, he sent his bestfriend to watch over me during the NYE Celebration...ang bait nila ano?

Looking Back at 2007

The year 2007 was one of the most important years in my life. Many life changing events happened to me but the most important one is moving here to United States. Last July, I bid goodbye to a very exciting life in the Philippines, packed my stuff and move to Chicago. I missed my dear friends so much that I am already thinking of my vacation in June. They really became important to me. They became my family when my best friend moved in Texas a couple of years ago.

My "Family" (the Conjuangco's, Baretto's, Gutierrez' and Zulueta-Lagdameo Buena Familia)

There are a lot of reasons for this decision but the most important of them all was for my career advancement and professional growth. Here in the US you have unlimited opportunities. These will come knocking at your door. These will just land on top of your desk or it will just pop as an email in your inbox. These things...you cannot find these things if I would stay in my present work.

My best friend from Texas and I, behind us is the Chicago skyline.

Looking back again, the people I left in the Philippines were my family. I missed them so much, all of them...especially my makukulit na pamangkins, its sad, I realized I dont have a picture of all of my pamangkins. College friends are as important as my biological family, they will be forever part of my life and I surely missed them.

I missed clubbing in Government and Bed. The clubs here are very much different from the clubs there in terms of music and effects. I missed the beach!! Boracay!!

My last out-of-town gimik with my "familia"

In terms of my work, I also missed it. The travels that my work requires, bring me to a lot of far-flung places in the islands of the Philippines...in short sa mga liblib na lugar you couldn't imagine. It's exciting yet when you stays there for almost 3 weeks, medyo nakakawindang na.

During my fieldwork in Iloilo, coincided with the Dinagyang Festival.

He's Happy, He's Out and He's Proud

This may be an old news already but I just happened to see an episode of the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency last night and I was suddenly mesmerized by one of their male models named JP Calderon.
Ok, he looked familiar to you. Yes he was in the reality TV show Survivor: Cook Islands before he landed on JDMA. In JDMA, he revealed his true colors and it was featured in the Instinct Magazine February edition. He had his interview at this magazine about his life from being in the closet to the time that he was outed in JDMA. Currently he is one of the 2(x)ist underwear model.
Everyone meet (meat) John Paul Calderon. He is Happy, OUT and Proud.
